Phipps graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Laws (Honors) in December 2011 and was subsequently admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in June 2014.
Prior to being called to the bar, Phipps worked as a paralegal for four years, after obtaining a Diploma in Law & Management from Temasek Polytechnic in March 2003. As a paralegal, he gained much valuable experience in diverse areas of the law including criminal law, civil litigation, corporate law, family law and shipping law.
Phipps’ main areas of practice are civil & commercial litigation and criminal litigation and he has appeared before both the State Courts and the Supreme Court in this regard. He strongly believes that as a lawyer, he ought not ignore the call to also defend the rights and interests of the “man in the street”. Phipps is conscientious and derives pleasure in finding solutions to the novel problems which clients may face. His legal career has allowed him the opportunity to advise listed companies and foreign technology startups in one moment, and in the very next to give hope to those facing criminal charges.
